History

1920 Started as the Shibaura Works of Ohte Shokai K.K., selling automobiles made by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
1922 Mitsubishi Internal Combustion Engine Mfg. Co., Ltd. acquired the Shibaura Works and renamed it Nagoya Machinery Works Shibaura Plant
1929 Established the Oi Plant and started the repair of imported automobiles and the manufacturing of tank prototypes
1937 Established the Maruko Plant for mass production of automobiles
1945 Stated producing commercial products (large trucks, buses, and agricultural tractors)
1950 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. was divided into three companies and our company became the Tokyo Machinery Works of East Japan Heavy Industries, Ltd.
1952 Company renamed Mitsubishi Nippon Heavy Industries, Ltd.
1956 Started producing bulldozers, motor graders, high-speed diesel engines for marine and land use, heavy trucks, and special vehicles
1964 The three Mitsubishi Heavy Industries companies were consolidated and our company became the Tokyo Machinery Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
1970 Moved to Sagamihara and Started producing forklifts
1971 Established the Sagamihara Machinery Works of Mitusbishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
1991 Started producing turbochargers at MHI Equipment Europe B.V. (Netherlands) and accelerated overseas development thereafter
2012 Stationary engine business was transferred from Power Systems Headquarters of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
2013 Split off the forklift division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and established Mitsubishi Nichiyu Forklift Co., Ltd. through a merger with Nippon Yusoki Co., Ltd.
2016 Split off the engine division and turbocharger division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and established Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engine & Turbocharger, Ltd. (MHIET)
2017 Split off the Meiki Engine division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engine & Turbocharger, Ltd. and established Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Meiki Engines Co.,Ltd.
